A highly entertaining action thriller, featuring 4 fantastic acting performances in a well constructed narrative that was a just a bit too formulaic. This film had the potential to be an all-timer in my opinion, but some of the writing is just too cliche and predictable. I did, however, love the characters and I thought a lot of the dialogue was perfect. Most of the action was shot well, but could’ve used some more violent detail to give it that extra edge.
The acting was pretty awesome here. I was not familiar with Alexis Louder previously, but she put herself on the map with this one, as she was pretty badass from start to finish. Frank Grillo is alway reliable, and he definitely came through on this film. He and Girard Butler both turned in veteran acting performances that allowed the rest of the cast to flourish. Toby Huss is a national treasure and needs to be recognized as one of the best character actors in Hollywood over the last few decades. He’s absolutely incredibly in this film.
This is one of those movies where there is a lot of positives to note, but the negatives leave a bad taste in your mouth and really drag the overall product down.
